Investing in the infrastructure that powers computer science education across Virginia.

Something is happening in Virginia's classrooms

A fifth-grade teacher in Martinsville is standing in front of 22 kids who will graduate into a world where computer science is as fundamental as reading. She has never written a line of code in her life.

A high school teacher in Prince William County has been told by her division that she needs to add a CS pathway by next fall. Her training budget is $200.

A middle school teacher in the Shenandoah Valley just found out that Virginia's new CS standards apply to him too. He teaches social studies. He is not sure where to start.

These are not edge cases. This is Virginia, right now.

The demand for computer science education is not coming — it has arrived. Virginia mandates CS instruction across K-12. The jobs are here. The workforce pipeline pressure is real. And the gap between what teachers are being asked to do and what they have the tools to do is enormous.

What are we doing about it?

CodeVA provides Virginia's K-12 educators with the professional development, curriculum, and instructional resources they need to teach computer science — regardless of their prior experience, their school's budget, or the size of their zip code.

CodeVA Provides:
